Clarence Peters admits making same mistakes as father, Sir Shina Peters

Filmmaker Clarence Peters has admitted to making the same mistakes as his father, veteran musician Sir Shina Peters.

Clarence said he forgave his father even before they had a conversation, after realizing he had repeated many of the same errors. He described this moment as a turning point in his personal growth.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Afropolitan podcast, he said the realization and act of forgiveness marked the beginning of his journey into adulthood in 2014 or 2015.

“I made every single mistake my father made. I’m just lucky that time and tech saved me from it being as catastrophic as his own,” Clarence stated.

He added that this insight led him to instantly forgive his father, even before any discussion between them.

“That was when I became an adult. That was when I began my journey into adulthood. I’m still on the journey—you’re always on the journey.”
