Court remands two over alleged armed robbery in Ekiti

An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate’s Court has remanded two men, Adediran Adeola, 28, and Emmanuel Adebola, 30, in a correctional facility over their alleged involvement in an armed robbery case.

The court ordered their remand after the prosecution filed an ex parte application seeking to keep the defendants in custody pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

Prosecuting counsel, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court there was probable cause to believe the defendants conspired to commit armed robbery within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District on or about July 19, 2026.

He said the alleged offences are punishable under Sections 314 and 312(2)(a) and (b) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

Furthermore, Oriyomi informed the court that the duplicate case file had already been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice, making the remand application necessary.

He therefore urged the court to grant the application and remand the defendants pending further directives from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted the application and ordered that both defendants be remanded in a correctional facility for 30 days.

The magistrate subsequently adjourned the case until September 7, 2026, for mention.
