Eid-al-Fitr: Tinubu calls for unity, peace, religious values

President Bola Tinubu on Friday called on Nigerians to uphold unity, peace, and the core values of Ramadan as Muslims across the country celebrated Eid-al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of fasting.

The president made the appeal after observing the two-rakat Eid prayer at the Dodan Barracks Eid Ground, where he joined other Muslim faithful in prayers and reflection.

Speaking after the prayers, Tinubu expressed gratitude to God for seeing Muslims through the Ramadan period, noting that the month reinforces values such as sacrifice, compassion, discipline, and love for humanity.

“We give thanks to God for guiding us through the month of Ramadan and for accepting our sacrifices during this sacred period,” he said.

He urged Nigerians not to abandon the lessons of Ramadan, stressing the need to sustain acts of kindness, good character, and support for the less privileged even after the fasting season.

“The teachings must continue beyond Ramadan. We must remain our brother’s keeper by showing love, good behaviour, and kindness to all,” the president said.

Tinubu also emphasised the need for collective responsibility in maintaining peace and security, noting that safeguarding the country requires the cooperation of all citizens.

“The stability of our peace and security is not just one man’s responsibility; we all have roles to play,” he said, urging Nigerians to remain vigilant and share useful information with security agencies.
