Ekiti gets new maternity complex as Oyebanji commends Olanipekun
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on Tuesday commissioned a newly constructed 35-bed mother and child maternity complex donated by former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), describing the gesture as a significant contribution to healthcare delivery in the state.
The facility, situated within the State Specialist Hospital in Ikere Ekiti, was officially handed over to the state government to strengthen maternal and child healthcare services and enhance access to quality medical care for residents.
Governor Oyebanji commended Olanipekun for his sustained commitment to the development of Ekiti State, noting that the donation reflects his dedication to improving the welfare of the people and supporting the government’s shared prosperity agenda.
He urged other prominent indigenes of the state to emulate the senior advocate by contributing meaningfully to the development of their communities, stressing that government alone cannot provide all the required infrastructure and social services.
“Success becomes meaningful only when it positively impacts others. Chief Wole Olanipekun has continued to demonstrate this through his contributions to humanity and the development of Ekiti State,” the governor said.
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, described the donation as a commendable act of philanthropy, adding that the facility would serve as a life-saving intervention for women and children in the state.
In his remarks, Olanipekun said the project was conceived to help reduce preventable maternal and child deaths and improve access to quality healthcare services for vulnerable mothers and newborns. He also appreciated Governor Oyebanji for fostering an enabling environment that encourages private sector participation in development initiatives.
Dignitaries at the commissioning included former Osun State Governor, Chief Bisi Akande; former Ekiti State Governor, Segun Oni; former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko; and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
