Ex-senator Kabiru Marafa joins ADC
Kabiru Marafa, former Senator for Zamfara Central, has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying he left the All Progressives Congress (APC) because of “political manipulation.”
In a statement on Thursday by Mansur Haruna, director-general of Marafa’s media team, the former lawmaker described the move as a “historic milestone” for the state. “My supporters and political structure have resolved to follow me in this new political journey,” Marafa said.
The ex-lawmaker revealed that his decision followed a strategic stakeholders’ meeting in Kaduna. “After careful deliberations and consultations with my political allies and supporters, I have formally declared my decision to align with the African Democratic Congress,” he said.
Marafa called on residents of the state to support the ADC. “I urge the good people of Zamfara to massively register with the ADC and support the party. It is a credible platform for political transformation, accountability, and good governance,” he said.
On his resignation from the APC, Marafa stated: “I am stepping down due to growing concerns over political manipulations, including alleged attempts to exploit the NIN database for partisan registration. My formal resignation will follow due process, and I will soon return to my hometown to submit it officially and obtain my ADC membership.”
He added that his defection will be marked by a major gathering of ADC supporters and members in Gusau, the state capital.
