Family dismisses rumours surrounding death of actress Tope Osoba

The family of late Nollywood actress Tope Osoba has dismissed reports circulating on social media about the circumstances surrounding her death, describing them as false and unauthorised.

The family issued the clarification in a statement on Thursday, following widespread speculation after news of the actress’s death emerged on Wednesday.

Several online reports had linked her death to breast cancer, while others claimed she had been battling emotional or psychological challenges. Some colleagues also suggested that personal issues may have contributed to her death.

“We respectfully urge the public to refrain from sharing or promoting misinformation that only adds to the pain our family is already enduring.

“We kindly ask that everyone allow us the dignity, privacy, and time to grieve without the burden of unfounded rumours and sensational narratives,” the family said.

The family also stated that any information regarding the actress’s death would only be released through official channels and by authorised representatives.

It thanked Nigerians, fans and well-wishers for their prayers, love and support during the difficult period, while appealing for continued respect for the family’s privacy.

The family has yet to disclose the official cause of Osoba’s death.
