INEC begins PVC distribution ahead of Osun governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to eligible voters ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Osun State, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola, the commission said the exercise is for persons who registered, applied for the transfer of registration, replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or updated their records during the just-concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

According to Babalola, the distribution will commence at the 332 Registration Areas across the state from Wednesday, July 22, to Tuesday, July 28, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily, including weekends.

She said the exercise would thereafter continue at the commission’s Local Government Area offices across the state from Wednesday, July 29, to Friday, August 7, 2026, also between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily, including weekends.

The commission urged all eligible voters to collect their PVCs within the stipulated period, stressing that the card remains the only valid means of accreditation and voting on election day.

“In addition, all uncollected PVCs from previous voter registration exercises will be available for collection during the distribution period.

“The commission hereby reminds voters that PVC collection is strictly personal, and it is an offence to do otherwise. Collection by proxy will not be allowed under any circumstances,” the REC said.

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, inclusive and transparent governorship election in Osun State and advised members of the public seeking further information to visit the nearest INEC Local Government office or contact the Osun State office through its official communication channels.
