JUST IN: 20-yr-old Ondo poly student found dead inside room

A 20-year-old student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, Audi Emmanuel, has been found dead inside his residence in Emure-Ile, Owo Local Government Area.

The deceased, a Computer Engineering student, was reportedly discovered lifeless in his room under circumstances that have raised concern in the community.

Witnesses said the incident occurred along Awolowo Road in Emure-Ile, close to the Amotekun office, where the student lived, indicating that the student was found with a rope around his neck, although his legs were said to be touching the ground.

The development has left neighbours and fellow students in shock, with details still unclear at the time of filing this report.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, said the case is being treated as a suspected suicide.

He said, “The Ondo State Police Command confirms the report of a suspected suicide incident at Emure-Ile involving a 20-year-old student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, who was found dead in his residence.”

“Police operatives promptly visited the scene, where the body was recovered and deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy. Preliminary observations suggest a case of suicide; however, a thorough investigation is ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident.”

“The Command commiserates with the family of the deceased and urges members of the public to seek support and speak up during moments of emotional distress, as help is always available.”
