JUST IN: Man allegedly beats father to death in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man, Nsikak Kingsley, for allegedly assaulting his 65-year-old father, Adone Peter, to death in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Thursday, saying the suspect was taken into custody following a complaint lodged by a member of the deceased’s family.

According to the police, the incident occurred on May 28, 2026, when an altercation reportedly broke out between the suspect and his father, leading to a physical attack.

The command stated that the elderly man sustained serious injuries, particularly to the head, and was rushed to a hospital for treatment but was later confirmed dead by medical personnel.

Following the report, detectives commenced an investigation and subsequently arrested the suspect, who remains in police custody.

“The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation,” the statement read.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, condemned the alleged act, describing it as unfortunate and unacceptable.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring justice and urged residents to reject violence and embrace lawful means of resolving disputes, warning that disagreements should never result in the loss of life.
