JUST IN: Tension as suspected thugs disrupt APC stakeholders’ meeting in Ondo

By Boye Oyeyemi –

Tension gripped Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Tuesday after suspected armed thugs reportedly invaded a stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress, forcing an abrupt end to the gathering.

The incident occurred at the party’s secretariat, where members and officials had assembled for the meeting, before the sudden arrival of the unidentified individuals triggered panic among attendees.

Eyewitnesses said the suspected attackers stormed the venue wielding weapons, causing participants to flee the premises in different directions to avoid harm.

Sources within the party described the development as a major security lapse, alleging that the intruders gained access to the meeting venue despite existing security arrangements.

The disruption reportedly halted proceedings midway, as party leaders and members abandoned the session amid fears of violence.

Efforts to obtain official reactions from security agencies and party officials were unsuccessful, as no formal statement had been issued.
