Musawa pledges TVET expansion to turn creatives into job creators
Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, has announced plans to expand Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes for young creatives, saying the initiative is aimed at transforming talent into entrepreneurship and job creation.
Speaking on Tuesday at the Creative Corner Summit 2026 held at the International Conference Centre in Enugu, Musawa said the Federal Government remains committed to strengthening the creative economy as a key driver of economic growth and diversification.
“The creative economy is not just about entertainment but also about turning our potential into value, jobs and wealth for Nigerians,” the minister said.
She explained that the Ministry’s expanded TVET programmes would focus on industry-relevant skills capable of preparing young Nigerians for opportunities in the global digital economy.
According to her, the goal is to equip creatives not only to seek employment but to create jobs and businesses of their own.
Musawa also described Creative Corner as an important platform for networking, mentorship, capacity building, market access and creative incubation, while commending the organisers for creating opportunities for emerging talents.
She praised Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, for his support for youth-focused initiatives and hailed the summit’s convener, Judith Okechukwu, for her contribution to talent development.
Earlier, Okechukwu said the Creative Corner initiative was established to provide visibility and opportunities for talented creatives who often struggle to gain recognition.
