NFF to honour Moses Simon for 100th Super Eagles cap

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has concluded arrangements to honour Super Eagles forward Moses Simon, who is set to earn his 100th senior cap for Nigeria if he features in Friday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Madagascar.
The fleet-footed forward made his Super Eagles debut on March 25, 2015, and has so far amassed 99 caps, scoring 12 goals.
In those 99 appearances, the Super Eagles recorded 49 victories, 30 draws and 20 defeats when Simon was involved.
A diligent, dedicated and resilient servant of the game, Simon has featured in 64 competitive matches and 35 international friendlies for Nigeria.
He has also played 23 matches for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations finals and featured in 22 FIFA World Cup qualifying games.
One of Simon’s early appearances for Nigeria came in the 2018 FIFA World Cup preliminary qualifying fixture against Swaziland, with the return leg played in Port Harcourt.
After a goalless draw in Mbabane, the Eagles needed a victory to advance in the qualifying campaign. The match appeared headed for another stalemate before Simon scored directly from a 22-yard free-kick to set Nigeria on the way to a 2-0 victory.
“I can testify that Moses Simon is an incredible player and a wonderful human being, having related with him at close quarters for several years. He is a patriot to the core, and forever passionate and dedicated to the Nigeria cause. The NFF celebrates him on this special occasion and wishes him many more caps with the Super Eagles,” NFF Acting General Secretary, Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, said on Thursday.
