Nigeria celebrates Saudi Arabia 96th national day, restates stronger bilateral cooperation
Nigeria and Saudi Arabia are seeking to deepen their bilateral relations through increased cooperation in agriculture, energy, investment, aviation, financial technology and trade.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja at a reception to mark Saudi Arabia’s 96th National Day.
Idris said the relationship between the two countries, traditionally anchored on history, faith and people-to-people ties, was increasingly taking on an economic and strategic dimension.
He said Nigeria had significant opportunities to expand cooperation with Saudi Arabia in sectors capable of delivering practical economic benefits to both countries.
“Today, our relationship is also taking on a broader economic and strategic dimension. Nigeria and Saudi Arabia have opportunities to deepen cooperation in areas such as agriculture, energy, investment, aviation, financial technology and trade,” Idris said.
The minister said Nigerians had maintained longstanding links with Saudi Arabia through pilgrimage, education, business and other exchanges.
He added that Nigeria could draw lessons from Saudi Arabia’s development experience as the Federal Government implements economic reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to him, the administration’s reforms are aimed at strengthening the economy, improving the investment environment, expanding infrastructure and creating more opportunities for Nigerians.
