No one can rig Osun governorship election, Adeleke declares

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has declared that the August 15 governorship election cannot be rigged or stolen, insisting that only the votes of the people will determine the outcome of the poll.

Adeleke made the declaration at a campaign rally in Oke Ila, Ifedayo Local Government Area, where he dismissed claims by some politicians that the election could be manipulated.

In a statement issued on Monday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor said, “I heard some politicians vowing to steal the votes. Where and how? Osun votes are untouchable. This is Osun State, the heart of the Yoruba nation. Nobody can rig us out here”.

He said his administration was enjoying widespread support across the state, adding that while his opponents were focused on “motor parks,” his campaign was reaching the people across communities.

“We are going round the state. The people are trooping out. The people’s votes will be defended. Their will on August 15 will become a reality. We are getting the votes; they are chasing motor parks. We are winning the people; they are shooting at the people. Osun people are not scared. All these attacks and warmongering have only hardened our people. Osun people are not cowards. They will vote and defend their votes,” he said.

Adeleke added that his administration’s performance would speak for itself, saying it had transformed major towns and was extending development to rural communities.

The Orangun of Oke Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, commended the governor’s developmental strides and urged him to establish tourism and sporting facilities in Ifedayo if re-elected, citing the area’s potential.

The governor also urged residents not to sell their Permanent Voter Cards or votes but to remain vigilant and protect their votes on election day.
