Oluremi Tinubu flags off food bank programme in South-East

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has flagged off the National Community Food Bank Programme in Anambra State as part of efforts to tackle child malnutrition across the South-East.

The launch, which completes the rollout of the intervention across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, took place on Thursday during Tinubu’s first official visit to Anambra State.

Speaking at the event, the First Lady called for political differences to be set aside in addressing the needs of Nigerians.

“Political leanings must be put aside to address the needs of Nigerians,” she said.

Addressing residents who gathered at Alex Ekwueme Square, Tinubu described the completion of the zonal rollout as “mission accomplished”, expressing optimism about the future of Nigerian children.

“There is hope for Nigerian children,” she said, adding that the South-East rollout should “spark renewed multi-level interest in nutrition for children across the country.”

She also commended Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, and his wife for their policies and programmes, which she said reflected the governor’s progressive ideological outlook.

During the visit, Tinubu inaugurated a Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI)/Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) ICT Experience Centre at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.
