Perm Sec Kana denies reviving Nigeria Air deal, clarifies National Carrier remarks
The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, has clarified his earlier comments on the National Carrier Project, dismissing claims that he proposed reviving the controversial Nigeria Air deal with Ethiopian Airlines.
Speaking in a press statement on Tuesday, Dr. Kana addressed public inquiries following his inaugural statement during the handover ceremony on Monday.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I never said there is a mandate to revive the botched Nigeria Air deal with Ethiopian Airlines. I received no such instruction,” he stated.
He explained that his reference to the National Carrier Project was in line with the administration’s vision to consider a national carrier initiative only if it is in the nation’s best interest and under the directives of President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Aviation.
Dr. Kana also reaffirmed his loyalty to the Honourable Minister and his commitment to advancing Nigeria’s aviation and aerospace sector.
“As a team, we will ensure the future of aviation in Nigeria is bright, innovative, and reflective of the aspirations of our great nation,” he concluded.
