PHOTO NEWS: Shettima leads governors to memorial prayers for Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Sunday led governors, ministers, traditional rulers and other dignitaries to the Annual Grand Prayer Session held in honour of the late Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, mother of President Bola Tinubu, at the National Mosque, Abuja.

Representing President Tinubu, Shettima paid tribute to the late Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, describing her as a woman whose life of service, compassion and leadership left a lasting impact on Nigeria and generations of market women across the country.

The vice president said the values instilled by the late matriarch continue to reflect in the leadership of President Tinubu, noting that her influence extended beyond her family to the broader Nigerian society.

“It should surprise no one, then, that the son she raised carries the same fire into the highest office in our land. His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, learned at her side that public life is a trust and that leadership is owed first to the ordinary and the unheard. A mother shaped a leader, and through that leader her values now serve the whole of Nigeria,” Shettima said.

He also expressed confidence that Nigeria would overcome its current economic and security challenges through unity, prayers and collective commitment, while assuring citizens of the administration’s determination to improve their welfare.

Earlier, Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, disclosed that more than 250 hand-pump boreholes had been constructed across nine northern states in memory of Alhaja Mogaji. He also announced plans to establish the Abibatu Mogaji Islamic Centre in Abuja and construct a modern Juma’at Mosque in Rigasa, Kaduna State.

Prominent Islamic scholars offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the late Alhaja Mogaji and also prayed for peace, security, unity and economic prosperity in Nigeria.

Among dignitaries at the event were Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum; Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni; Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi; former governors Usman Sa’idu Nasamu Dakingari and Tanko Al-Makura; as well as the Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, represented by Yahaya Abubakar, alongside ministers and other senior government officials.
