PHOTO NEWS: Abaranje community welcomes first-ever secondary school in grand style
Residents of Abaranje community, a fast-growing metropolis within Alimosho Constituency 2 in Lagos State, on Saturday celebrated the arrival of the first-ever public secondary school in the area.
The event, which drew widespread attention, marked a significant milestone in the community’s educational development and access to public schooling.
Among dignitaries present were the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa; the lawmaker representing Alimosho Constituency II, Kehinde Joseph; as well as representatives of the First Lady of Nigeria and the Governor of Lagos State, alongside traditional rulers.
The programme, which lasted about five hours, began on a lively note as Obasa moved round the venue to greet various groups and stakeholders in attendance.
Subsequently, the event featured a range of activities, including cultural displays and a dance presentation by students, which added colour to the occasion.
In their separate remarks, political leaders used the platform to address pressing national and state issues, assuring residents that the government remains committed to improving their welfare.
Furthermore, the Speaker announced a donation of over N3 million to support community wards, religious groups, and traditional councils, a gesture that was widely applauded by attendees.
The ceremony culminated in the official commissioning of the Oluremi Tinubu Secondary School, symbolising a new chapter in the educational advancement of Abaranje community.
