The Ondo State Police Command has arrested several suspects linked to various offenses including traffic violations and abduction.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, noting that the arrests followed separate incidents in Akure.

He said the first case occurred on April 3 at Cathedral Junction, where two suspects allegedly violated traffic signals. According to him, a Senior Traffic Warden, Kehinde Oliniju, intercepted a vehicle for breaking traffic laws and ordered the driver to report at the station.

The statement noted that the driver suddenly sped off with the officer still inside the vehicle, heading to an unknown destination.

Police patrol operatives from Fanibi Division were said to have responded swiftly after an alarm was raised, intercepting the vehicle at Winners Chapel Junction and rescuing the officer. The suspects were subsequently arrested and taken into custody along with the vehicle involved in the incident.

In a separate development on April 5, police operatives intercepted another vehicle driving against traffic in the Oba-Ile area of Akure. The driver, identified as Adeyanju Tolutope, allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted an officer, while her accomplice fled.

According to police sources, all suspects have been charged to court and efforts are ongoing to apprehend others at large.
