Reps Committee holds meeting with Rivers Sole Administrator

The House of Representatives ad hoc committee on Rivers State and the Sole Administrator of the state, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas, has finally met after several postponements.

The House is exercising its constitutional right to take over the functions of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Ibas apologised for not attending the previous meeting and requests for additional time to prepare to brief the committee.

He said he is still settling down in his new role, appealing for the understanding of the committee.

Ibas reiterated his regard for the committee’s efforts to ensure accountability and effective oversight during the ongoing transition in the state.

He assured the committee of his full cooperation moving forward and promised to ensure that all relevant information would be made available in due course to aid the committee’s work.

The Sole Administrator thanked the chairman and members of the committee for their patience and dedication to national service, while also appreciating members of the press for their ongoing role in supporting the federal government’s efforts in Rivers State.

Following his plea to the committee, journalists were then excused and the meeting goes into a closed door session.
