TICC denies Adeleke’s link to alleged oath-taking video

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has dismissed allegations linking Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, to an alleged oath-taking video circulating on social media ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

The council, in a statement signed on Friday by the Chairman of its Media Committee, Hon. Bamidele Salam, described the video as an attempt by the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Governorship Campaign Council to smear the governor.

It said it was examining the authenticity, source and circumstances surrounding the video but maintained that Adeleke had neither authorised, participated in, directed nor endorsed the taking of any oath in relation to the August 15 election or any other political purpose.

The statement said Adeleke remained a democrat who believed in the freedom of citizens to make their political choices without threats, intimidation or coercion, insisting that his support across the state was based on his record of performance.

“Governor Adeleke is a democrat who believes fundamentally in the freedom of citizens to make their political choices according to their conscience. He does not need oaths, threats, intimidation or any form of coercion to secure the support of the people of Osun State,” the statement said.

The council further accused the APC of attempting to exploit an unverified social media video for political gain, describing the move as a sign of desperation ahead of the governorship poll.

It urged the opposition to prepare for the outcome of the election instead of dwelling on social media content, insisting that Adeleke’s campaign was anchored on his achievements and the confidence of the electorate.

The council maintained that the governor neither required anyone to swear an oath nor invoke supernatural means to secure electoral victory, stressing that his mandate rested solely on the will of the people.
