Tinubu congratulates AGF Ogunjimi on appointment, celebrates Lagos monarch’s 10th anniversary
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Accountant-General of the Federation, Dr Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, on his election as Chairman of the African Association of Accountant-Generals (AAAG), while also celebrating the 10th anniversary of the reign of the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali.
In separate statements issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Ogunjimi’s emergence as head of the continental body as a major achievement for Nigeria and commended the monarch for a decade of peaceful and development-oriented leadership.
Ogunjimi was elected Chairman of the AAAG after defeating candidates from Tanzania and The Gambia during the association’s Annual General Meeting held in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
Tinubu described the election as “a source of immense pride for Nigeria and a testament to the country’s sustained efforts at promoting transparency, accountability, and excellence in public finance administration.”
He expressed confidence that Ogunjimi’s leadership would deepen collaboration among member states, foster the exchange of best practices, strengthen institutional capacity and advance reforms that would enhance prudent public financial management across Africa.
The President also wished the Accountant-General a successful tenure and assured him of the Federal Government’s support as he assumes the continental responsibility.
In a separate congratulatory message, Tinubu rejoiced with Oba Kasali, Emugoriade I, on the 10th anniversary of his ascension to the throne, describing his reign as one marked by dedication, peace and purposeful leadership.
The President joined the Lagos State Government, the traditional institution, the people of Igbogbo Kingdom and other well-wishers in celebrating the monarch’s milestone, which comes up on July 25.
