Tinubu hails Modi on becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister

President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, describing the milestone as a reflection of sustained public trust.

In a statement he signed on Tuesday in Abuja, Tinubu said the achievement demonstrates strong confidence in Modi’s leadership across successive electoral mandates in India.

He praised Modi’s record in public service and international engagement, stating that his leadership “continues to inspire millions worldwide.”

Tinubu also emphasized the depth of their relationship, noting: “Beyond being a great friend of Nigeria, Prime Minister Modi is a personal friend and trusted ally whom I can always count on.”

He further highlighted Modi’s recognition with Nigeria’s national honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, adding that it reflects his contribution to strengthening bilateral relations between both countries.

Describing Modi’s leadership qualities, Tinubu said he deeply admires his “wisdom, courage, and commitment to the progress and prosperity of his nation.”

The Nigerian President concluded by wishing Modi continued success, saying: “I wish Prime Minister Modi continued good health, wisdom, and success as he leads India to even greater heights.”
