Tinubu: Nigeria’s stock market capitalisation grew from N30tn to N160tn under reforms

……Says over 2,700km of roads are under construction nationwide

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says Nigeria’s economy has become more competitive and better positioned for sustainable growth since his administration introduced major economic reforms in 2023.

Speaking during his third anniversary address to the nation on Friday, Tinubu said investor confidence is rising, public finances are improving, and states now have greater resources to invest in development projects.

The President highlighted significant growth in the Nigerian stock market, revealing that the All Share Index rose from 53,000 in 2023 to a record 250,000 in 2026, while market capitalisation increased from N30 trillion to N160 trillion within the same period.

“The stock market is booming,” Tinubu said, adding that companies are now declaring record profits and dividends.

He also pointed to major infrastructure projects currently underway across the country, stating that over 2,700 kilometres of highways and major roads are under construction, reconstruction, or rehabilitation.

According to him, the projects include the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road, the East-West Road, and several rural access roads aimed at improving transportation, regional trade, and job creation.

Tinubu further disclosed that rail modernisation projects are ongoing nationwide to strengthen connectivity, logistics, and economic integration.

In the oil and gas sector, the President said reforms introduced by his administration have attracted billions of dollars in fresh investments from international oil companies.

He noted that the $5 billion NLNG Train 7 project is nearing completion and is expected to boost Nigeria’s liquefied natural gas production capacity, exports, and earnings.
