Tinubu orders FRSC to intensify highway monitoring after fatal accident

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to enhance its highway monitoring operations in response to the alarming rise in road accidents nationwide. This order comes in the wake of a tragic auto crash on Sunday that claimed the lives of 40 members of the Tijjaniyya Movement, leaving several others injured.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the Tijjaniyya Movement, as well as the families of the deceased and injured victims.

He also highlighted the importance of improving road safety measures to prevent such devastating accidents in the future.

The victims were en route from Kwandari in Plateau State to attend a Maulud Nabiy celebration in Saminaka, Kaduna State, when their bus collided with a truck in Lere, Kaduna State. The collision resulted in significant loss of life and numerous injuries.

President Tinubu also extended his sympathies to the governments of Kaduna and Plateau states, offering prayers for the peaceful repose of the souls of the deceased and for the quick recovery of the injured.

He emphasized that the FRSC must take swift action to enhance road safety protocols and reduce the frequency of fatal accidents on the nation’s highways.
