Unpatriotic politicians encouraged deposed Emir to fight back, Gov Abba

In a recent revelation, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has accused certain “unpatriotic politicians” of instigating the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, to challenge his removal from office.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Bature, Governor Yusuf claimed that these politicians are behind the legal proceedings contesting Bayero’s deposition by the Kano State Government.

In an interview on Arise TV’s Morning Show, Bature emphasized that the political landscape heavily influences the ongoing Kano Emirate crisis.

He contrasted Bayero’s response to his dethronement with that of Emir Muhammed Sanusi in 2019, noting that Sanusi did not contest his removal by the former state government.

Governor Yusuf’s decision to dethrone Aminu Bayero in May and reinstate Sanusi as the Emir of Kano followed the repeal of the 2019 Kano Emirate law by the state Assembly.

Bature explained that the state government sought to repurpose the Emir’s palace, citing plans for renovation and its use as a guest house and graveyard.

“We wanted him to vacate the palace because it’s used as a guest house and a graveyard, we want it renovated quickly so that it can serve its purpose. When the governor reinstated the Emir and had given 48 hours for all the other emirs to vacate their palaces,” Bature stated.

He further revealed that despite preparations for Sanusi’s return, certain politicians both within and outside Kano allegedly influenced Bayero to resist peacefully vacating the palace. Bature condemned this interference, labeling it as unnecessary and driven by political motives.
