VP Shettima calls for unity, peace, during Eid prayers in Borno

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday called on Nigerians to embrace unity and work together to overcome the country’s challenges.
Addressing journalists after the Eid-al-Fitr prayers marking the end of Ramadan, the Vice President said the holy month of fasting is a period for reflection on national unity and the interconnection between peace and development.
“There can never be peace without development, and there cannot be development without peace,” he said.
Shettima noted that this year’s Ramadan coincided with the Lent season for Christian citizens, highlighting the shared values of reflection and self-discipline across faiths.
“My message to all Nigerians is a call for unity and a call for us to understand that what binds us supersedes what divides us,” he emphasized.
The Vice President also commended the people of Borno State, including Governor Babagana Zulum and the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin, for their resilience and dedication to fostering peace, social harmony, and progress in the state.
Shettima called on all Nigerians to face the country’s common challenges, including underdevelopment, insecurity, and poverty, with a spirit of cooperation and solidarity.
