Eid-al-Fitr: FG determined to contain insecurity, VP Shettima assures

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday joined thousands of Muslim faithful at Ramat Square in Maiduguri, Borno State, to observe Eid-al-Fitr prayers, marking the end of Ramadan.
Speaking to journalists after the prayers, Shettima expressed confidence that insecurity across Nigeria would soon be contained through proactive measures by both federal and state governments.
He called on Nigerians to unite in addressing shared challenges, including insecurity and underdevelopment.
“The convergence of Ramadan and Lent offers a powerful moment for reflection. National progress is inseparable from peace, and we must come together to confront our common challenges,” the Vice President said.
Shettima also praised the people and leaders of Borno State, including Governor Babagana Zulum, for their resilience and unwavering commitment to peace, social harmony, and development in the face of ongoing security threats.
The prayers, led by the Chief Imam of Borno State, Shettima Mamman Saleh, drew a large turnout of worshippers and dignitaries, including Senators Ali Ndume and Kaka Shehu Lawan. In his sermon, the Chief Imam urged Muslims to carry forward the discipline, sacrifice, and devotion observed during Ramadan into their daily lives, emphasizing compassion, social responsibility, and unity as foundations for a peaceful society.
