IGP Disu orders nationwide security boost for Eid celebrations

Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has congratulated Muslim faithful across Nigeria on the successful completion of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, while ordering heightened security measures to ensure a peaceful festivity.

According to a statement from the Force, the IGP has directed Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders to deploy tactical teams, intelligence operatives, and the Special Intervention Squad to Eid prayer grounds and other critical locations nationwide.

Security will also be strengthened at highways, motor parks, recreational centres, and major public spaces. The strategy includes visible policing, coordinated patrols, enhanced surveillance, and intelligence-led stop-and-search operations aimed at deterring crime and ensuring a rapid response to any security threat.
