The Ondo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to securing the safe release of Mr. Adeniyi Adelana, the Baale of Ode Oriya Village in Owo Local Government Area, who was abducted by suspected gunmen on Saturday.
Western Post earlier reported that the community leader was kidnapped during an attack in which his wife sustained gunshot injuries, prompting concerns among residents of the area.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, assured the victim’s family and the public that security agencies had intensified efforts to locate and rescue the traditional leader.
Ajanaku said all necessary security and intelligence mechanisms had been activated to facilitate the victim’s safe release and ensure the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the abduction.
According to him, the Nigeria Police Force, working in collaboration with the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has commenced coordinated search-and-rescue operations across strategic locations within and around the area where the incident occurred.
The commissioner disclosed that preliminary intelligence reports indicate that security operatives are making significant progress in tracking the perpetrators, expressing confidence that ongoing operations would yield positive results.
He noted that the swift response by security agencies reflects the state government’s continued investment in strengthening its security architecture through the deployment of surveillance drones and other modern intelligence-gathering equipment.
Ajanaku further urged residents to remain calm and support security agencies with credible information that could aid ongoing operations. He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration to protecting lives and property while sustaining peace and security across the state.
