Orile Agege General Hospital has provided free medical screening and treatment to more than 5,000 children in 5 years of its annual Back-to-School Medical Outreach.

This was disclosed by its Medical Director, Dr. Iyadunni Bakare, during the hospital’s 2026 edition of the Back-to-School Medical Outreach, held in Lagos.

The fifth edition, targeting children aged five to 15, promotes early detection of health conditions and healthier school sessions.

Bakare said the programme began in 2022 with 1,000 participants and has grown to about 3,000 beneficiaries.

Services include prescription glasses, ear syringing, dental scaling, counselling, physiotherapy, nutrition and other specialist care.

Officials commended the initiative, urging the hospital to hold it more frequently.

They stressed that early eye and hearing tests can prevent health challenges from affecting children’s education and development.
