VIDEO: No need to change Tinubu in 2027, says Oba of Benin

The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Ewuare II, has said there is no need to change President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

The monarch stated this on Tuesday when the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, and other campaign officials visited him at the Oba’s Palace in Benin City, Edo State, as part of a nationwide engagement with traditional rulers.

The delegation had visited Sokoto and Lagos on Monday before proceeding to Benin City on Tuesday.

Welcoming the delegation, the Oba said the Benin people, Edo people and those in the diaspora joined him in receiving the visitors, adding that even his ancestors welcomed them to the palace. “Those here and those not here, even the Benin people, the Edo people, the diaspora, join me in welcoming you to the palace of the Oba of Benin today,” the monarch said.

The Oba emphasised the non-partisan nature of the Benin throne, saying, “The Benin throne is not partisan to politics”.

He, however, stated that the positive effects of the economic reforms put in place by the present administration is evident for all to see, adding that the throne did not see the need for a change in the leadership of the country.

“Having said that, the throne does not see a need to change the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
