Three men have been remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre following their alleged involvement in the theft of a Toyota Camry in Idanre, Ondo State, and the sale of its components as spare parts.

The suspects, identified as Akinsanoye Rotimi, Folajimi Temidayo and Oguntunde Sunday, were arrested by operatives of the Ondo State Police Command after an investigation into the incident.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, saying the case began after a resident reported the disappearance of his ash-coloured Toyota Camry with registration number WEN 302 AA on October 12, 2026.

According to the statement, the vehicle owner discovered the theft at about 6 a.m. and reported it at the Idanre Divisional Police Headquarters, prompting the police to launch an investigation.

The police said the investigation led to Rotimi’s arrest. He allegedly confessed to organising the theft, while information obtained during interrogation led to the arrest of Temidayo and Sunday, who were said to be residents of Lagos State.

The command added that a gold-coloured Toyota Camry with registration number WEN 305 AE was recovered during the investigation. The suspects allegedly disclosed that the stolen vehicle had been dismantled and its components sold as spare parts.

Jimoh said the three suspects had been arraigned before a court and remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre over the alleged offences.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, urged residents to report suspicious activities to security agencies, stressing that credible information from the public was essential to tackling vehicle theft and other crimes across the state.
