ADC disowns Atiku-Amaechi campaign appointments in Ekiti

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ekiti State has disowned reports announcing the appointment of a director-general and state coordinator for an Atiku-Amaechi campaign, describing the appointments as unauthorised.

The party said the appointments were neither approved by its national leadership nor officially communicated to the state chapter. It warned members and supporters against accepting or circulating the reports on social media.

The state chapter’s Publicity Secretary, Rt. Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan, disclosed this in a statement following enquiries by the state leadership and confirmation from the party’s national headquarters.

Aribisogan urged party members, stakeholders and the public to disregard any list, letter or publication announcing the purported appointments. He stressed that only the national leadership had the authority to appoint campaign directors and state coordinators.

He added that legitimate appointments would be formally communicated to the state chapter through recognised channels, noting that individuals and support groups could not assume such responsibilities without the party’s approval.

The ADC also clarified that the selection and deployment of party agents at polling units, wards, local government areas and state levels remained its constitutional responsibility. It warned that no campaign council or individual could independently undertake the exercise without the party’s authorisation.

The statement said the State Working Committee, led by Dr Bamidele Ekunola, had completed the collation of party agents’ details and submitted the necessary materials for onward transmission to the national headquarters for uploading.

The party urged members to remain united and focused on strengthening its structure in Ekiti State, warning that unauthorised announcements could cause confusion and division. It assured members that all legitimate appointments would be announced through official communication channels.
