Nigerian philanthropist Modupé Ozolua reveals shocking DNA discovery in new memoir
Nigerian entrepreneur and philanthropist Modupé Ozolua has revealed that a DNA test she took at the age of 50 shattered her understanding of her identity, a revelation she has detailed in her forthcoming memoir.
In a personal account announcing the book, titled Beneath the Applause: A Memoir of Fame, Deception, and the Cost of Being Seen, Ozolua said the discovery forced her to confront what she described as a 50-year-old lie about her identity.
She said the memoir recounts years of abandonment, betrayal, personal sacrifices and struggles that remained hidden behind her public success and the attention she received.
Ozolua described sharing her deepest secrets, pains, scars and traumatic experiences as one of the most difficult things she had ever done.
She also addressed questions about her absence from the public space, saying the book was her response to those who had wondered why she disappeared.
According to her, the memoir explores her experiences of repeated loss, rebuilding her life and walking away from difficult situations, as well as her determination to survive against all odds.
She said the book would offer readers a glimpse into the struggles behind her public image, challenging the perception that success and public recognition tell the full story of a person’s life.
“Yes, every applause has an ending, and every truth has a beginning… but are you ready for the truth?” she asked.
