Adelabu family celebrates relatives’ rescue, urges united action against insecurity

The family of the immediate past Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has expressed gratitude following the rescue of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her twin sons from kidnappers, describing the development as a victory for collective action against insecurity in Nigeria.
In a statement issued on behalf of the family by Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, the family confirmed that the victims had regained their freedom and were receiving necessary care after the ordeal. It noted that they were in stable condition and thanked God for their safe return.
The family said the successful operation underscored the importance of collaboration among security agencies, government institutions and citizens in tackling criminal activities across the country. According to the statement, the rescue demonstrated what could be achieved when stakeholders work together toward a common goal.
It also praised President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to the safety and welfare of Nigerians, noting that his concern and support during the period of captivity reflected the administration’s resolve to confront security challenges.
The statement further acknowledged the role played by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, commending him for standing with the family throughout the difficult period and providing support that contributed to the eventual success of the rescue mission.
Special appreciation was extended to the Inspector-General of Police, the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, the Oyo State Police Command and the Commissioner of Police in the state for their professionalism and dedication in securing the victims’ release.
The family equally recognised the contribution of the Department of State Services (DSS), stating that intelligence-driven operations carried out by officers at both the national headquarters in Abuja and the Oyo State Directorate were instrumental in locating and rescuing the victims.
While celebrating the safe return of their loved ones, the family urged Nigerians to remain united in the fight against insecurity. It stressed that kidnapping and other forms of criminality affect people across political, ethnic and religious divides, and called for sustained cooperation among government, security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders and citizens. The family also remembered other victims still in captivity, appealing for intensified efforts to secure their freedom and bring relief to their families.
