Adelabu’s sister, nephews still in captivity as kidnappers remain silent

The younger sister of the former Minister of Power and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons remained in captivity on Thursday, more than 24 hours after their abduction in Ibadan.

The family disclosed that the kidnappers had yet to establish contact or make any demands, heightening anxiety among relatives and well-wishers as efforts to secure the victims’ release continue.

Chief Adelabu’s Media Aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro, said neither the family nor security agencies had received any communication from the abductors since the incident occurred on Wednesday morning.

According to him, security operatives have intensified search and rescue efforts and assured the family that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safe return of the victims.

“The family has not heard from the kidnappers since the incident happened. Security agencies are still working on the matter and have assured us that they are doing everything necessary to ensure the victims return home safely,” Awogboro said.

The victims were identified as Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul. They were reportedly abducted at about 7:30 a.m. while Mrs. John-Paul was taking the children to school in Ibadan.

Reports indicated that armed men intercepted their vehicle and forcefully whisked them away to an unknown destination, triggering concern among residents and political associates across the state.

Awogboro described the development as traumatic for the family, noting that relatives, including the victim’s husband who resides in the United States, have been deeply distressed by the incident. He appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the victims, as investigations and search operations continue with no contact yet from the kidnappers.
