Aiyedatiwa distributes 70 motorcycles to boost transportation of livestock in Ondo

The Ondo State Government has distributed 70 motorcycles to livestock extension agents and lead farmers to strengthen agricultural services across the state.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa flagged off the distribution in Akure on Thursday, describing the initiative as part of efforts to improve food security and agricultural productivity.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Segun Omojuwa, the governor said agriculture remained central to the state’s economic development.
He noted that effective extension services play a vital role in connecting government policies with farmers at the grassroots level.
Aiyedatiwa explained that poor mobility had long limited extension officers from reaching remote communities, adding that the motorcycles would address the challenge.
The governor further revealed said the equipment would enhance timely delivery of modern farming techniques and improve livestock management practices among farmers.
While commending the L-PRES project and the Ministry of Agriculture for driving the initiative, Aiyedatiwa urged beneficiaries to use the motorcycles strictly for official purposes.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Leye Akinola, described the programme as a major step towards improving livestock production, while beneficiaries expressed optimism that the support would enhance their efficiency.
