Tinubu support group berates billboard destruction, vandalism in Akure

A pro-Tinubu youth political support group in Akure, Ondo State, has condemned the destruction of its campaign billboards promoting the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the act as unlawful and undemocratic.

The group, Akure Youth for BTO, made this known in a statement issued on Thursday, alleging that several of its billboards were vandalised across parts of the Akure metropolis.

It listed affected locations to include St Peter’s Unity, Road Block and Airport Junction, as areas where the campaign materials were reportedly damaged.

The group accused suspected political rivals of orchestrating the act in a bid to stifle its legitimate political activities, disclosing that footages from surveillance cameras helped identify those behind the vandalism, adding that evidence had already been secured.

Despite this, the group said it would not take immediate legal steps in order to preserve peace and uphold democratic principles, noting that efforts had begun to repair and reinstall the damaged billboards to sustain visibility for its campaign.

Akure Youth for BTO, however, warned that any further destruction would attract legal action, while urging security agencies to step up surveillance and protect political materials.
