2027: Yusuf Ali tasks politicians to work for Nigerians, cautions against selfishness

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and Kulia Ngeri of Ilorin, Mallam Yusuf Ola-Olu Ali, has urged politicians to love the people they were elected to serve while bearing in mind that the day of reckoning awaits.
He gave this advice during a courtesy visit by the executive members of the Correspondents’ chapel to his Ilorin office on Thursday.
Ali began his remarks by urging citizens to be patriotic, eschew self centeredness, selfishness, and shun any act that can lead to suffering.
He went further to address politicians, noting that he has observed a high level of zeal in their desire to attain power, adding that they must ensure to deliver on their promises and love the people wholeheartedly.
The legal luminary added that without the people, power is useless and therefore, must the citizens must be treated as major stakeholders that they are.
In the same vein, Ali equally advised media practitioners to be cautious of their language and tone of reporting so as not to heighten people’s anxiety and panic unnecessarily.
He ended by commending the Chapel’s leadership for counting him among the stakeholders while announcing that he was just awarded a honorary degree in Law by the University of Abuja – the award will be conferred on him later this month.
