Ambode declares support for Tinubu’s re-election, lauds reforms, leadership style

The former Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, has officially declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection, lauding his administration’s bold economic reforms and visionary leadership.

Ambode who spoke during a special prayer session in Lagos to commemorate Tinubu’s 74th birthday, described the President as a statesman of rare courage and foresight.

According to him, various interventions by the president such as the removal of fuel subsidy, unification of the exchange rate, and other strategic economic measures, though initially uncomfortable, have started to stabilize the nation and restore confidence in Nigeria’s economic trajectory.

While laying emphasis on the current stability witnessed in Nigeria’s economic space, Ambode revealed that it is not by accident but by design, stressing the place of careful planning, deep wisdom, and a commitment to reversing the mistakes of previous administrations.

“A lot of people fail to appreciate the intricacies of governance,” the ex-governor said. “It takes vision, courage, and unflinching determination to make the tough decisions that secure the nation’s future. President Tinubu has demonstrated all of these in abundance,” Ambode added.

The APC chieftain further called on Nigerians to recognize the President’s achievements and support his continuity, noting that the path to prosperity demands patience and unity.

He ended his session by praying for divine guidance and strength for President Tinubu to continue implementing reforms that uplift the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

The prayer session which was organised by The Mandate Movement and hosted by the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, had in attendance several prominent figures, including Dr. Seyi Bamigbade, director-general of Tinubu-Ambode support group; Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku; members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC); civil servants; local government executives; and key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
