APC candidates begin thank-you tour of Kwara monarchs after primaries

Candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections on Saturday began a thank-you visit to traditional rulers in Kwara South to appreciate them for their support during the party’s recent primaries.
The delegation was led by the party’s governorship candidate, Yakubu Danladi Salihu. Other members included Kwara South senatorial candidate, Prince Lekan Adewoye, Ekiti/Isin/Irepodun/Oke Ero Federal Constituency candidate, Florence Oyeyemi, and Offa/Ifelodun/Oyun Federal Constituency candidate, Dr. Rafiu Ajakaye.
The visit, which came after a visit to the Emir of Ilorin, covered Ekiti and Oke Ero local government areas. According to the candidates, the tour was organised to thank party members and traditional rulers for their support during the APC primaries.
Speaking at the palaces of the Olosi of Osi and Chairman of the Ekiti Council of Chiefs, Oba Saliu Abdulkareem Adasofegbe, and the Alofa of Ilofa and Chairman of the Oke Ero Council of Chiefs, Oba Samuel Niyi Dada, Salihu thanked the people for their support and urged them to remain united ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He also pledged to build on the achievements of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, particularly in infrastructure, inclusive economic growth, human capital development and support for traditional institutions if elected governor.
In their separate remarks, the Olosi of Osi and the Alofa of Ilofa commended AbdulRazaq for what they described as his developmental strides over the past seven years. They also prayed for the successful completion of his tenure.
The monarchs urged the APC candidates to deliver the dividends of good governance if elected and offered prayers for their success in the forthcoming elections. Similarly, the APC Chairman in the state, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, said the administration had brought significant development to Ekiti and other parts of Kwara, citing the take-off of the KWASU campus in Osi and the construction of the Obbo-Aiyegunle road.
The visit ended with town hall meetings involving party stakeholders and loyalists, who reaffirmed their support for the APC candidates and pledged to work for the party’s victory in the 2027 general elections.
