ARCON confers fellowship on Alake for contributions to strategic communication

The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) has conferred its Fellowship on the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, in recognition of his contributions to strategic communication, ethical public engagement and national development.
The fellowship was presented to Alake during a ceremony held at his office in Abuja on Wednesday, where he pledged to strengthen public communication of government policies to ensure citizens are better informed.
Speaking at the event, ARCON Director-General, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, described the honour as a fitting recognition of Alake’s distinguished career in journalism, public communication and public service.
Fadolapo said the minister had effectively deployed strategic communication to support reforms in the solid minerals sector since assuming office.
According to him, Alake has combined policy innovation with sustained stakeholder engagement to reposition the mining sector as a key driver of economic diversification, while improving investor confidence and public trust.

He added that the ministry’s communication strategy had helped to raise awareness of reforms aimed at tackling illegal mining, promoting mineral beneficiation and value addition, and attracting responsible investments into the sector.
Fadolapo also said the fellowship recognised Alake’s longstanding reputation as one of Nigeria’s accomplished journalists and media professionals, built over decades of service marked by professionalism, integrity and commitment to nation-building.
Responding, Alake thanked ARCON for the honour and pledged to improve the publicity of government policies. He also reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to openness, accountability and sustained engagement with citizens, investors and other stakeholders.
