BREAKING: Labour Party restricts 2027 presidential ticket to southern region

The Labour Party has announced that its presidential ticket for the 2027 general election will be zoned to the southern part of Nigeria.

The party’s acting national chairperson, Nenadi Usman, disclosed this on Tuesday during an interaction with journalists in Abuja.

Usman stated that the decision had been firmly taken by the party, stressing that it would not consider aspirants from the northern region for the presidential race.

“We have one certain decision that we have taken, and that is that we will certainly not field any aspirant from northern Nigeria.

“We have zoned the position to southern Nigeria. So if any northerner comes now to want to contest elections, we certainly will not accept that,” she said.
