BREAKING: No casualties during fire incident at our Lagos branch, says Polaris Bank
The management of Polaris Bank has debunked a report of 37 persons feared dead in a fire incident that happened at its Broad street branch in Lagos, stressing that both staff and customers were evacuated from the building.
Earlier on Thursday morning, a fire incident occurred at the lender Broad Street Branch in Lagos, originating from a customer’s vehicle parked on the 3rd-floor car park.
The incident occurred around 11:45 a.m., triggering a swift response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
The management in a statement obtained by WESTERNPOST said, “Our emergency response procedures were immediately activated, and with the swift intervention of firefighters and other emergency responders, the fire was successfully contained.
“We are pleased to confirm that there were no casualties or fatalities.
“ Consequently, reports circulating on social media claiming that over 34 persons were feared dead are false and entirely inaccurate.”
The statement added that assessments and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
“We appreciate the prompt response of the emergency services and the support of our staff, customers, and stakeholders,”the statement added.
