The Nigerian senate has issued a three months suspension to a senator representing Bauchi Central, Abdul Ningi over his claims that the 2024 national budget was padded by members of the hollow chambers.
The suspension was read out before members of the 10th assembly on Tuesday by the senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Westernpost reported exclusively on Monday that the Senate would be considering options of suspending the senator over his claims that of 3.5 trillion was padded into the N25trillion budget that was presented by President Bola Tinubu before a joint National Assembly last year.
While speaking to BBC Hausa Service over the weekend, Ningi alleged that President Bola Tinubu is executing a N28trillion budget different from N25trillion he said the National Assembly debated and approved.
He accused the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and President Tinubu of padding the budget by N3trillion.
The Senate Spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu and other Senators from the North have come out strongly to refute Ningi’s claims, saying he was speaking for himself and out of the figment of his own imagination.
