Children’s Day 2025: Oluremi Tinubu urges united front against bullying

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged Nigerians to come together in creating a safe and nurturing environment for children, free from bullying.

In a message released on Tuesday to mark Children’s Day, the First Lady emphasized the importance of this year’s theme, “Stand Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation,” noting that bullying—whether in schools, communities, or online—has damaging effects on the emotional and academic development of young people.

“Every child deserves to grow up in an environment that is safe, supportive, and free from fear,” she said.

Senator Tinubu, speaking both as a national figure and a mother, called on parents, educators, and community leaders to take proactive steps in teaching values of empathy and kindness.

“Let us teach our children that strength lies in compassion, and that true leadership begins with looking out for one another,” she added.

She extended warm wishes to children across the country, describing them as the “promise of Nigeria’s future,” and urged all citizens to ensure that their rights and dignity are protected.

Children’s Day is celebrated annually in Nigeria on May 27 to promote child welfare and reflect on the progress and challenges in securing a better future for the nation’s young population.
