Ede will deliver massive votes for Adeleke, says Osun monarch

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

The Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, has declared that the people of Ede will deliver massive votes for Governor Ademola Adeleke in the August 15 Osun State governorship election.

Speaking on Tuesday during the commissioning of the 9km dualisation of the Akoda–Baptist High School–Oke Gada Road in Ede, the monarch appealed to President Bola Tinubu to ensure a free and fair election, urging that voters be allowed to choose their preferred candidate without interference.

“We are using this opportunity to appeal to President Bola Tinubu not to rig the governorship election. He should leave us alone and allow each of us to vote where we so desire. They know that, by the grace of God, the Accord Party will be victorious,” he said.

Oba Lawal added that Adeleke’s administration would continue, expressing confidence that Ede would produce enough votes to offset any deficit from other local government areas of the state.

Governor Adeleke said the road project formed part of his administration’s infrastructure renewal programme, noting that similar projects were ongoing in Osogbo, Ila, Iwo, Ile-Ife and Ilesa.

He commended the Ministry of Works and the contractors for delivering the project to specification and thanked the Timi of Ede and residents for their support during construction.

Earlier, the Director of Highways, Engr. Maruf Ojebode, said the road was designed to meet federal government standards and was executed to address traffic congestion and flooding in Ede.

Ojebode said the project covered 9km in two phases, stretching from Akoda to Baptist High School and from Baptist High School to Oke Gada, adding that both phases were completed in December 2024.
