Ekiti PDP backs Fayose’s REA appointment, hails Tinubu’s choice

The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has endorsed the appointment of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency, expressing confidence in his capacity to lead the federal agency effectively.

President Bola Tinubu had recently appointed Fayose, a prominent PDP chieftain, to head the agency despite belonging to the opposition party. The Ekiti PDP said it had formally released the former governor to take up the national assignment after securing the approval of its State Working Committee.

The party’s position was contained in a statement issued on Monday by its State Publicity Secretary, Oluwafemi Philips, who said the endorsement had also been communicated to the National Working Committee of the PDP.

According to the statement, Fayose’s appointment reflects recognition of his leadership credentials, administrative experience and commitment to public service.

“The Ekiti State chapter has officially released and endorsed Dr. Ayodele Peter Fayose to undertake this important national assignment. We are confident that he possesses the experience and capacity to deliver on the mandate of the Rural Electrification Agency,” the party said.

The PDP added that Fayose’s years in public office and experience in governance would strengthen the agency’s efforts to expand electricity access to rural communities across the country.

“We assure him of our unwavering support and prayers as he begins this new phase of national service. We believe he will make Ekiti State and Nigeria proud through exemplary service,” the statement added.

The party also congratulated the former governor on the inauguration of a monument named in his honour at the Ekiti State Government House, describing the recognition as a fitting tribute to his contributions to the state’s development and legacy in public service.
