Eko FM, Radio Lagos bag awards as Lagos govt lauds broadcasting excellence

The Lagos State Government has commended Eko FM and Radio Lagos for their performance at the Nigeria Broadcasting Awards, where both stations won six awards across different categories.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, gave the commendation on Monday when a delegation from the stations, led by General Manager Olajide Lawal, presented the awards to the ministry’s top management.

Omotoso described the achievement as a testament to professionalism and hard work, noting that the recognition would further boost confidence in the broadcasting profession.

He said the awards reflected the impact of the stations’ efforts and would encourage the state government to continue supporting the media sector.

“This recognition from the apex body of your profession is an amazing testament to your work and as we say in Lagos, the reward for hard work is more work,” he said.

The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Lanre Bajulaiye, also congratulated the stations and urged ministries, departments and agencies to patronise state-owned media outlets.

Lawal said the stations won awards in categories including Radio Station of the Year, Best Radio Station – News, and Best Radio Station – Original Production in Business, Drama and Sports.

He added that the feat was made possible by the support of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and would inspire the stations to sustain high standards and professionalism.
